Business Man Workout

As you know I do a lot of traveling around the world living out of a suitcase.  I try and stay with friends wherever I go as i find it enjoyable and relaxing after a busy day at work.   However I found my fitness training would come to a halt when I was travelling as i struggled to find places to workout apart from going for the odd run.    I started to explore new options such as elastic banks that were light and I could easily fit in my suitcase.  I have found them ok for resistance training but didn’t really feel I worked up a sweat.   Last month I caught up with good friend,  strength and conditioning expert Maurizio Tangari in San Diego who showed me some very cool unconventional ways to get a full body workout just using my suitcase!   Next day I have to say I was sore and worked up a good sweat during this 20 minute mini circuit!   Hope you enjoy it!

Check out more of Maurizio Tangari’s unconventional ways of exercising and working on your core.   http://www.urwarrior.com

Keeping the ‘tache? Here’s how to nurture it..

Moustache image 2

So how many of you newly hirsute men have grown accustomed to your moustaches and want to carry on nurturing them?

Moustaches are IN in a big way, but if you’re not confident in your moustache-wearing or moustache-grooming ability, then i have some great male grooming tips on how to grow your perfect ‘tache.

If, like many men, you find it hard to actually grow a decent moustache, here are some tips that may (or may not) help!

  1. Daily massage of the moustache area – helps blood flow to those all-important follicles
  2. Allegedly eggs, sardines, liver and onions and chili con carne apparently contain nutrients to make your hair grow…no harm in trying
  3. Use a good moustache oil or even just olive or jojoba oil to ensure both your hair and skin is moisturized
  4. Style with a beard trimmer – don’t try with a normal shaver… you’ll regret it!
  5. Use moustache wax to keep your ‘tache tidy all day long!
  6. Use toothbrush and boot polish or your girlfriend’s mascara or black eyebrow pencil to lightly brush some tiny lines. This gives your ‘tache the appearance of being more bushy and fills in any gaps!
  7. Hair transplant surgery… yes, it’s a thing and yes you can! If your moustache just doesn’t want to grow, have a look at the options at https://www.dhiaustralia.com.au

Official Moustache styles

While there are many more types than these, the World Beard and Moustache Championships 2007 had six sub-categories for moustaches. Which is the best for you?

  1. Dalí – narrow, long points bent or curved steeply upward; areas past the corner of the mouth must be shaved. Artificial styling aids needed. Named after Salvador Dalí.
  2. English moustache – narrow, beginning at the middle of the upper lip the whiskers are very long and pulled to the side, slightly curled; the ends are pointed slightly upward; areas past the corner of the mouth usually shaved. Artificial styling may be needed.
  3. Freestyle – All moustaches that do not match other classes. The hairs are allowed to start growing from up to a maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip. Aids are allowed.
  4. Hungarian – Big and bushy, beginning from the middle of the upper lip and pulled to the side. The hairs are allowed to start growing from up to a maximum of 1.5 cm beyond the end of the upper lip.
  5. Imperial – whiskers growing from both the upper lip and cheeks, curled upward (distinct from the royale, or impériale)
  6. Natural – Moustache may be styled without aids.

Let me know your creative styles of moustaches and share them on my social media feeds and lets see who takes the “Best Moustache of 2015!”

MyFaceMyBody Awards comes to Australasia

AU_01_Enter_Now

We’re off to spread the MFMB word in Australia!

We’ve been running the MyFaceMyBody Awards in the UK for a good few years now and they’re getting bigger every year, so we thought it was time to spread the word “downunder”, not least because I’m a Kiwi and desperate for some proper sunshine.

So, the inaugural MyFaceMyBody Australasia Awards will take place on November 28 2015 at The Hilton in Sydney.

Our prestigious awards are the only consumer awards dedicated to the aesthetics industry and recognise and reward brands and beauty practices for their product innovation, service and popularity.

Having successfully established themselves in London as the awards to win for aesthetic clinics, brands and practitioners we’re now going to give consumers a chance to vote for their favorite brands, products and services in Australia and New Zealand where the popularity of aesthetics and beauty is sky-rocketing.

What better excuse to spend some time in the southern hemisphere over their summer!

The glamourous awards event, sponsored by Syneron Candela Australia, together with Advanced Skin Technology, DHI Hair Clinics and Advanced Cosmeceuticals, and as with the UK Awards, I’ll be hosting, joined by leading health and beauty professionals, beauty brands, journalists, TV personalities and celebrities.

We’ve got some amazing judges on board too. They’ve been busy whittling down the entries to some top class finalists:

The Judges

The finalists have been selected by a team of exceptionally talented and experienced judges:

  • Jenni Gilbert – SPA+CLINIC Editor
  • Ricky Allen – Vogue’s Roaming Beauty Editor, aesthetics consultant and trainer
  • Michelle Kearney – Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Cosmetic Surgery & Beauty Magazine
  • Adam Downer – Costhetics Managing Director
  • Dr Gabrielle Caswell
  • Jenny Vallance – General Manager of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery
  • Tina Viney – President and CEO of the Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network (APAN)
  • Charmaine Guest – Editor Headway Magazine (NZ)

If you’re in Australia or New Zealand, please visit the Aesthetic Awards Australia and New Zealand site and vote for your favourite aesthetics products, practices and professionals.

VOTING IS OPEN NOW UNTIL OCTOBER 30.

Filming the new Dr Fab Tv Series

Well what a day filming the new television series, Dr Fab.  An exhausting 15 hour day presenting but you are all in for a real treat.

Dr Fab is all about making you feel fabulous from the inside and out.  We have the healthy Kitchen which will cover some really healthy alternatives to popular dishes.  We have  some exciting and innovative new treatments in the world of beauty and aesthetics that are demonstrated by leading aesthetic professionals in studio.   We have the ‘Big Issues’ which is hosted by myself and our Mail Online and Metro Editor, Deborah Arthurs along with a host of some great health, wellness and beauty experts.

We were also fortunate to have presenter Lizzy Cundy join me on the couch who reveals all as well as James Locke giving his top fitness tips.

Keep an eye out for the broadcast schedule on MyFaceMyBody.com.  It will go to air end of September.

Highlights of Wimbeldon

Screen Shot 2015-07-11 at 14.52.05 Screen Shot 2015-07-11 at 14.53.29

Well what a tournament at Wimbeldon this year.  Some great matches and big upsets.  Its a shame Andy Murray has been knocked out of the tournament but best to be beaten by the most charming player ‘Roger Federer’.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being at Wimbeldon this year and very lucky might i say!  I have been invited to the corporate boxes on Sunday to watch the mens finals and drink a bit of champagne.  Can’t wait!  I will be cheering Roger Federer to go all the way.

What always amazes me about Roger is he is not only one of the best players in the world but wins the support of the crowd every year.  Why is this?   A lot say he is a real gentleman on and off the court.   A lot of males can really learn from Roger in the way he composes himself professionally and the way he comes across on television and in real life.  He always looks in control  even when he is one set down to his opponent he comes across relaxed and never loses his cool like some other players i won’t mention.!

I think Roger Federer is a real inspiration to a lot of males and a great role model for young men coming through ranks.

Go Roger!!
